The City Council of Gandia has launched an innovative initiative to enhance the city as a Smart Tourist Destination. By utilizing artificial intelligence, profiles of individuals visiting the beach are being analyzed to obtain valuable information for decision-making and service optimization. The implemented system involves the installation of four intelligent cameras strategically located at the beach entrances. These cameras, using radar technology and artificial vision, gather data regarding the type of vehicle, registration location, and circulation patterns, among other relevant aspects. It is worth noting that individual privacy is protected and the provisions of the Data Protection Law are adhered to.
Thanks to this initiative, the Gandia City Council will gain insights into the impact of tourism promotion activities on city mobility and take measures to improve services. Additionally, visitor profiles and visitation patterns will be obtained, enabling the more efficient design of roadways and parking spaces. This initiative is part of Gandia’s Smart City program, driven by the Department of Smart City and European Projects, with expectations of providing even more valuable information as data accumulates.
