The Gandia beach will be the stage of the first Festival Cortoons Gandia Frikidays, which will take place at the Espai Baladre on 25 and 26 May.

This event, the first Manga salon in the city, will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., both days. The festival will have the participation of 50 guests, including double actors, cosplayers, tiktokers, content creators and writers from all over Spain. In addition, it will offer a food trucks area with Asian food and dedicated workshops and table games areas, with more than 25 activities and 40 artists exhibiting their works.

Tickets for the festival cost 8 euros for Saturday and 6 euros for Sunday, and can be purchased on the event’s website. Alessandro D’Urso, director of Cortoons Gandia, commented that the project celebrates the twentieth anniversary of Cortuons and promises to be a family experience with competitions and cosplay passes, as well as k-pop performances and children’s activities.

The organization has reserved 60 guest rooms and 300 overnight stays in hotels and campsites in several cities, including Alicante, Castellón, Murcia, Barcelona, Seville, Granada and Madrid.

The director of Tourism and Culture, Balbina Sendra, highlighted the positive impact of the festival on the local economy, noting that the wide schedule of the event will allow the attendees to enjoy the local cuisine, stroll around the beach and visit other places of interest. Sendra stressed that this initiative is part of the municipal government’s strategy to de-seasonalise beach tourism and attract new audiences, thus contributing to the cultural and economic dynamism of Gandia.
