These scholarships will have a duration of twelve months, with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months. The deadline for submitting applications began on 23 May and will end on 12 June.

The Official Gazette of the State has published the resolution of the Presidency of the Tourism Institute of Spain (Turespaña) of 3 May 2024, announcing the call for 36 scholarships for professional internships both abroad and at the central services of Turespaña in Madrid.

The call has a total budget of more than two million euros, with maximum annual appropriations that vary depending on the destination city. The aim of these scholarships is to improve the qualification and training of the human resources of the Spanish tourism sector, increase knowledge of the tourist markets and the attributes of the Spain tourist brand, and ensure a continuity in training in key areas of the State Secretariat of Tourism and Turespaña, especially in international tourism promotion.

Of the 36 scholarships, 32 are intended for the Tourism Councils of Spain abroad, and the remaining four will be held at the headquarters in Madrid. The Tourism Councils, which carry out market intelligence work and execute the tourism marketing plans of Turespaña, are located in 33 international cities, including Abu Dhabi, Berlin, London, New York, Tokyo and Zurich.

Over the past five years, more than 80 scholars have been trained in these offices. With this new call, Turespaña reinforces its commitment to efficiency, effectiveness and transparency in the training processes.
