SEGITTUR, the public company attached to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in charge of managing the National Strategy for Smart Tourist Destinations, and the COTEC Foundation, have presented the report “Future jobs for smart cities and tourist destinations”. This report emerges as one of the initiatives linked to the collaboration agreement signed between both entities with the aim of promoting innovation in the tourism sector and in smart tourism destinations in particular. In collaboration with Singularity Experts, 46 new jobs have been linked to the smart tourist destinations model, which are divided into three areas: services to citizens and visitors, transformation of the local entity and smart management of the destination.

Some of the proposed jobs include “Virtual Visitor Service Specialist,” tasked with serving tourists through an online chatbot; the “Digital Transformation Manager”, in charge of leading the transformation process of the local entity towards an intelligent model; and the “Intelligent Tourist Experience Manager”, in charge of designing and developing tourist experiences based on technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. The report also highlights the need to have specialized professional profiles in issues such as cybersecurity, data analysis, sustainability or user experience management.
