The “Stellés Year” arrives in Gandia in 2024 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the Valencian poet, Estellés, on 4 September 1924.

With more than a dozen activities planned, the tribute will spread across various cultural spaces of the city. From the Book Square of IMAB to the EstiuVers of the Department of Heritage, poetic recitals, exhibitions and collaborations will be held with institutions such as the Summer University of the Gandia International Centre of the Universitat de València.

The highlight of the program is reserved for the autumn, around the date of the poet’s birth. Several important events will be held, such as the Fiesta Estellés de Saforíssims, the Fira i Festes, and the Literary Awards City of Gandia of the IMAB. In addition, Stellesian routes are being organized around the city and workshops of urban music based on the work of Estellés, aimed at high school and primary school students.

Music, which played a key role in the work of Estellés, will also be the protagonist in the programming. At least six musical performances are planned with artists such as Pau Alabajos and Carles Dénia.

The Governor of Culture, Balbina Sendra, highlights the importance of commemorating literary figures such as Estellés to dynamize the cultural and tourism industry, as well as to encourage reading and literature in Valencian. The regular plenary of the municipality has submitted a motion to officially declare 2024 as the Stellar Year in Gandia and calls for the support of all the institutions involved in the celebration.
