The director of Tourism, Balbina Sendra, announced that the city of Gandia will be the seat of the SICTED destination Forum, focused on tourist issues and quality of services.
The event will take place on 10 and 11 April at the hotel RH Bayrén & SPA under the title ‘A Step to Sustainability’. It will bring together technicians, politicians, service providers and companies of the Integral System of Spanish Tourist Quality in Destinations (SICTED).
Sendra highlighted the importance of this event to highlight the commitment of all agents of the destination with tourist quality. More than 60 people will stay in Gandia during the Forum. The choice of Gandia as headquarters reflects the recognition of the municipality’s commitment to tourist quality, with 139 SICTED distinctions so far and 44 more this year.

The focus of the Forum is not only on excellence and quality, but also on sustainability. Sendra stressed the need for quality and sustainability to go hand in hand to offer more responsible and quality tourist experiences.
During the days, Gandia will exhibit the work done in different areas, including the Fallas and Fallero Museum, the Ducal Palace and the Historical Centre, as examples of involvement in the SICTED project. In addition, promotional activities such as a fideuá showcooking will be carried out.
As for the hotel occupation, during the San Vicente Bridge, Gandia reached a 90% occupation with 12 hotels at 100%. Sendra attributed these good figures to various initiatives, such as the presence of Portuguese students and the SunSation Beach event, which attracted people from all over Europe and America to play beach volleyball, which contributes to the benefit of the local economy.
