Commerce councillor of Gandia, Elena Moncho, and tourism councilman, Balbina Sendra, presented the ‘Destapa’t’ initiative, which will take place on the first Thursday of each month from September 4th to December 5th.

The presentation was also attended by Amadeo Faus, President of Destí Safor, Pedro Izquierdo, president of the Associació de Comerciants of the Centre Històric, Viktoria Avramenko, chairman of the Commerce of the Grau, and Julio Cantó, the President of the Trade Association of Gandia.

This year’s edition of ‘Destapa’t’ introduces two modalities: one for bars, which will offer a cover with a drink for 5 euros, and another for restaurants, that will serve gourmet dishes from the same price. This initiative seeks to encourage consumption in hospitality and dynamize local. Moncho highlighted that the deadline for establishments to join the initiative ends on June 14th, and Sendra stressed that ‘Destapa’t’ is crucial for de-stacionalizing and dynamizing the municipality, generating important synergies for local tourism.

Currently, 26 localities from the urban core and the Grau have already joined ‘Destapa’t’, and Faus encouraged more establishments to participate, recalling that it is now free to join. Bars and restaurants will be able to compete for the award for the best cover of Gandia, with an external gastronomic jury responsible for the selection.

In addition, guests will receive a “Destapa’t passport” and can participate in a competition if they visit between 10 and 15 locations. Moncho also noted that the shops will offer one or two hours of free parking and one euro discount at participating establishments for buyers of the historic center.
