Last Thursday 7th of September, the mayor of Gandía José Manuel Prieto announced the news that the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, after years of management by the city’s mayor, has recognized this festival as a national tourist interest, recognizing the importance and tradition of the festival, as well as the particularity of its acts, such as the Fallese baptism.

While this title, which is expected to become official during this week in the publication of the BOE, comes after years of management, it is by no means the only official recognition that is granted to this festival of the capital of the Safor. Already in 2015 they were recognized as cultural interest asset by the central government as well as the following year UNESCO recognized the festive celebration as a intangible heritage of humanity.
