The Colegiata of Gandia presents «A la Llum de la Seu», a cycle of four night concerts that will take place in a unique stage illuminated by more than a thousand LED candles
This event will not only highlight the acoustics and beauty of the temple, but also aims to raise funds for the Foundation for the Restoration of the College of Gandia and pay tribute to the Valencian musician Joaquín Rodrigo on the 25th anniversary of his death. The concerts, covering a variety of styles, will take place on 13 July and 3, 24 and 31 August, starting at 22:00.
Concert Calendar:
- 13 July: Homage to Joaquín Rodrigo with works for singing and piano by Manuel Falla and Joaquin Rodrigo, played by Lucía Castelló, Luis Santana and Víctor Carbajo.
- 3 August: Film music with the Wind Quintet of the UAM Sant Francesc de Borja.
- 24 August: Gospel performance with Cor Mègoc Gospel.
- August 31: Classical guitar concert by Ausiàs Parejo entitled “Herence of Wood and String”.
Tickets, whose prices vary between 10 and 20 euros depending on the location of the seats and the option of conducting a guided tour of the Colegiata before each concert, can be purchased online or at the ticket desk located in the College.
The delegate of Culture and Tourism, Balbina Sendra, has highlighted the variety of musical styles and the special atmosphere created by candle lighting, noting that this cultural proposal will enrich the cultural programming and tourist offer of Gandia. Likewise, Paco Llorens, communications delegate of the Insigne Colegiata of Gandia, thanked the municipality for its involvement in opening the doors of the College to visitors and tourists, offering a different offer in the Historic Centre during the summer.
