A few days before the start of the long-awaited Josephine festivals, the Gandia Fall Federation has taken a crucial decision: to change the jury system of the monuments.

In an assembly held this week among all the committees, the change in the system of monuments jury was internally approved, a measure that has not yet been officialized to society and the media.

The decision was made in response to the news that the Junta Central Fallera (JCF) of Valencia would send only 15 people from the same municipality, out of the 25 requested, to be part of the jury. This approach was not well received by the Gandia fallers, who felt that an effective assessment required a wider group of people with different criteria from different places.

The president of the Federation of Fallas presented several proposals in the assembly, and after a rough vote, it was agreed to add the 15 people of the JCF to 23 fallers, one from each Gandhian commission, to form a joint jury. These people will not be able to be vetoed and will evaluate monuments outside their section.

In order to prevent controversy, it was decided that a member of each section would accompany the jury during the visit to the monuments, ensuring a thorough review of all details. This new system seeks not only to avoid situations such as the controversy around the Falla Prado in 2023, but also to foster impartiality and diversity of perspectives in the evaluation of the Faller monuments, allowing the Falles of Gandia to fully enjoy their holidays.
